 First Presbyterian Church Clarksville AR

Completed in 1919, the First Presbyterian Church of Clarksville, Arkansas includes a sanctuary highlighted by an octagonal skylight underneath its dome.  Typical of vintage 1920s ornamental stained glass, the design has provided comfort to generations of worshipers.  But age and previous inadequate restoration efforts had resulted in a frightening possibility:  the skylight was in real danger of falling in.

The Soos Stained Glass artisans were chosen to save this cherished work.  Removal was carefully undertaken, with the skylight taken to the studio for restoration.  The panels were meticulously cleaned and examined. Soldering new curved and properly sized galvanized steel reinforcement bars to the stained glass panels, ensured the structural integrity of the dome.

The correctly reinforced panels were installed into their original steel framework.
